I have the pull on ones in a cognac sort of dark color. Got them in 2009 actually (shout out PP) and still wear them to my casual office with black tights or black leggings (or charcoal sometimes) and a variety of plain black knit dresses

Why not over jeans anymore?

Because it isn't 2009.

Who cares it is a classic look, especially if you are thin and willowy.

THis is kind of what I am thinking- if you have great XYZ for a specific item (usually meaning thin) then pretty much it will always look good. Fair, hell no. But honestly a tall girl with a banging body could still possibly look a million times better in bootcut jeans and a tank top and 10 year old accessories than an average looking girl who is in the exact right trend.

OR if you have a style that's a little bit "yours"- like if you wear a more rock n roll style or a more super preppy style, etc- then I think you can carry things that are "over" into whatever time because its part of your look. I have 4-6 pairs of tall boots that I still wear with jeans sometimes because they are all a little unique, moto/ western/ vintage etc. and that kind of matches my style. Just like I have several ankle boots that I wore - like an old engineer pair- when it was "out" in the early 00s

OP apparently, the question was are they out of style, the advice was how to update them slightly. Image search "frye melissa button" and behold the hold out bloggers of 2013.

They're a nice, classic boot. Not out of style.
