I'm ina big age gab relationship 25 years. It works for us. I am prepared to be a widow fairly young. I really love him - 30 good years is worth it to me

For a man aged 50 or more, about 15 years is ideal. As he gets into his mid 60s a bigger gap of about 20 years works better.

NP here and thank you, hopefully for a glimpse into my future, PP! I'm a 51 y.o. DW and my DH is 3 years younger. We've been married for 20+ years. The way he looks at me, I can say he still finds me attractive. I think he finds me attractive both because I look good for my age (no surgery/fillers--I'm not trying to look younger and failing at it, just looking healthy for my age), but more because I am so crazy about him, so still in love with him and supportive of him, that it's contagious.

I think, assuming you have a quality guy, that the looks end up being secondary to the quality of the relationship. The quality of the relationship is the glue. That glue acts as the soft lens when you look at your partner.

I assume, though, that if you are trying to attract someone in the first place, then looks are more important because you don't have that relational glue yet.

A good friend was 30 when she married a guy near 50. At 65 he looked and acted 75 and when she turned 60 he was almost immobile and died at 80. It was sad to see someone still in her prime living such a difficult life. I think once you get past a ten year gap you are taking a gap risk unless the older person has great genes.

My DH's parents both played tennis and traveled internationally until they were 85 and both lived until their early/mid 90's.

I expect a new thread every, oh, 3 days or so, about women aging and how awful-terrible-no-good-bad that is. Because that will CERTAINLY make them feel awful about themselves and their lives, and maybe pretty please maybe make the poster feel better.
