The point is that the OP could easily have just asked about the reading level instead of making a point of saying what her kid could do before entering K.

Seriously? Are you from this area. This is opposite of humblebrag. K students reading at first grade level is the norm on DCUM and not unheard of in this area. Humblebrag would be that the child was composing poems or writing short stories. Seriously.

OP here, She goes to the library once a week and can pick any book she wants. Every Friday though a brown " reading" envelope comes up with books in it she needs to read to us and return on Monday. The first week only had one book in and last week there were three books in there. These are books she says she has already read in " reading group" in her class.

My son is in K and from what he's told me the librarian doesn't tell them which books they can check out. So she might just be picking level D books because she likes them.

Yep — D is the beginning of 1st grade, but don’t get too hung up on the levels. IMO it’s a teacher tool and not meant for kids/parents to obsess over. Just have her pick books she likes to develop a love of reading. If they are too hard you can read them together.
