Interesting to read this. I am 5'4" and 120lbs, and wear 6P in Loft pants (the styles that ankle skim) and 28 in J Crew jeans, for examples. I do have a large undefined waist.

Hm, it must really depend on how you are built. I'm 5'5/125 and I wear xs/0 in most brands, 2 in Boden.

I'm 5'5" and 120, and I usually wear a 2 or a 4. I have a petite upper body and heavier legs. Ann Taylor is the worst ... I'm an XS and lots of their clothes are still too big.

Yes, we now have vanity sizing. What used to be a size 10 is now a 6 on average. I think in the 80's when I weighed 120 lbs. at 5'5", I wore a junior size 5 or maybe even 7.

I don't know whether this is to reflect how overweight we have gotten as a population (maybe they always want 10 to be "average", so they made 10 larger), or to sell more clothes (if you can fit into a smaller size, it appeals to your vanity, so you're likely to buy more).

It's out of control. I'm 5'5" and 130lbs, and I am a ZERO in Ann Taylor dresses and pants, XS in tops, 0 or 2 in BR pants and dresses, etc. When I was pregnant and ordering maternity clothes from UK designers, I was a 10UK. Love those Brits for not bowing to vanity sizes.

I'm the same height, and the lowest weight I've been since college was around 132. At that weight I wore a 4 pant (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic), but if I had lost 7 more lbs., I would've probably worn a size 2. I think it just depends on how you're built. I usually wear a 6 button up top or jacket (but a small pullover top), because of the width of my shoulders. Any smaller and shirts feel tight across the upper back.
