I would be more concerned if she was not a regular teacher who'd been there a while.

The teacher may be leaving for personal reasons so you may never know why. The important thing is to welcome and support the new teacher. I pray that your child will form a bond with this new teacher quickly and have the best year ever! Hang in there!

It's the 2 year olds class. The teacher is basically supervising their playtime, reading stories, and leading songs so Mom gets a break.

It will be fine.

This happened to us a few years ago after the first few weeks of school. Turns out the teacher had cancer and needed to focus on treatments, not teaching. Unfortunate situation, and we did end up getting screwed with the not so great assistant becoming the lead teacher, but in that type of situation I wouldn't (and didn't) create a stink. Plus it's preschool (wasn't pre-k) so glorified daycare, regardless of how much you pay or how fancy the neighborhood is or how well regarded the school is. Your child will be fine.

This is so not true. All preschools good or not experience high turnover in one way or another at some time.

I would also add that there are daycares that have relatively low turnover of teachers. To suggest that preschools necessarily have lower turnover than daycares isn't accurate.

I wouldn't be worried about her leaving necessarily. I would be disappointed that child had to adjust to yet another teacher in such a short amount of time. But sometimes things like that happen.

I agree with all of this. Between my two kids, we've been at 3 highly respected traditional preschools and occasionally, the teachers leave, even the ones who've been there forever. It's preschool -- the teachers do it because they love the job, not for the money. And if they can't do it anymore, for whatever reason, they leave.
