Nobody wants to go to work EOTR.

Is there a solid hospital in PG County, close to SE DC?

This, people act like it is the next big thing but god help the early homesteaders

Early homesteader here. Not really experiencing the "hot mess" you are describing, just a lot of extremely nice and close knit community members, an amazing commute, and a mortgage payment on a detached house that wouldn't even buy you a 1br apartment in NW.

God can focus his efforts on Puerto Rico and NV, no help needed here.

So what? How much are we as a city willing to spend to ensure that everyone in the city can walk to the fucking hospital for a delivery? Care to guess what percentage of Americans live within a couple of miles of a maternity ward?

+1. DC is a small city. It's not that far to get to a maternity hospital. Most people live 15-20 minutes from one.

This is nowhere close to true. It takes a long time to get across DC from east to west.

I live on the east side of DC and gave birth at sibley. Half hour drive tops. most people do not live in walking distance of a hospital. Its not that big of an issue.

uh, Howard University Hospital, Washington Hospital Center, Providence Hospital, BridgePoint Hospital, off the top of my head...

woops, ok, not Howard, but the rest are at in or 1 block away from NE.

Washington Hospital Center is really far from East of the River. Just b/c it's 1 block from NE doesn't make it close.

The person you're talking to has already proven themselves to be an absolute idiot (not knowing which hospitals have maternity wards, not knowing the difference between EOTP and EOTR, thinking DC is a "small" town and without any maternity wards in 7 or 8 everyone is still 15-20 minutes from care.
