+1. DC is a small city. It's not that far to get to a maternity hospital. Most people live 15-20 minutes from one.
This is nowhere close to true. It takes a long time to get across DC from east to west.

Washington Hospital Center is really far from East of the River. Just b/c it's 1 block from NE doesn't make it close.
