Subject: Paycut for happiness?
I just started the new career, so I can't be sure I'll be happy, but I left high 80s with lots of potential to grow, for education, starting the low 50s and maxing out in the 90s a long time from now.
Getting my kids holidays and snowdays is priceless, as is summers. It's not an easy job but juggling family logistics got infinitely easier.
I used to rush home and get to daycare at 630 on the dot, as they were closing, and then have to figure out how to make dinner, get them in bed, and be back on my email for work. I got 2 weeks vacation, with some days towards holidays and family commitments, and one 1 week actual vacation. Total burn out.

I passed up a $10k raise for 100% remote. The saved time in commute and money in gas easily make up for that salary bump.

Make the change. You're miserable now. Unless the extra 10K makes a critical difference to your family's existence, it's not worth it.

Yes, and before I was making 500k a year as a financial parasite.

Also don't forget, if you take a $10k paycut, you are not really losing $10k. It is much less, because you pay taxes on that-especially since you are a dual income family. Plus commuting expenses should be less
