Nothing sits in my sink ever.

I do 99% of dinner cooking and clean as I go. DH does 99% of meal clean up and immediately takes care of any dishes/pans that didn't make it into the dishwasher while I cleaned as I went, or are not dishwasher safe.
Run when full, pretty much every day. First adult down empties it.

We don't use ours. We didn't have a dishwasher in our house when I was younger...so I'm just used to doing everything by hand.
Let me guess, you're Asian.

In olden days when there was no running water, or when water needed to be conserved, there was the dish tub. Soapy water, then rinse water. Dry. Done.
My aunt still does this, though she does it in the sink.
I keep the water trickling and go over each dish with my dish sponge to eliminate debris before placing it in the dishwasher to be really cleaned. This method consumes a lot more water, sadly.
We take short showers, have water-saving toilets, don't water the lawn, to do our part for the environment.
