OP here - I'm not under the impression that it is. I have a girlfriend who used to dance at a NoVA club and still has connections there. She gave me a good idea of what to expect. I'm simply concerned about potential ramifications.

But you live in Western Maryland. That's a hell of a commute to NoVa.

You're fine. Dad cannot get custody of a child based on the mother's profession as long as the mother's profession is legal.

Also you can use a computer at no charge at public libraries. I’m sure that free services are available to help look at your resume and give you tips. One place friends have gone to for free advice overall is the Women’s Center in Vienna, Virginia. If they don’t look at resumes, they should be able to refer you to a place that does.

Did she also tell you how much money you'll likely have to put into it? That more likely you'll not make much money or lose money.

Okay, well. To be honest I'm not quite sure he would use it against you even if he could...he moved across an ocean, cheated, and pays irregular child support. Doesn't sound like he cares much. Do what you have to support your children but I suggest less drastic options like bartending, waitressing, uber driver first. Also consider being a paralegal - in the DC area you can start off at 45K - 50K and get overtime for longer hours. Also a PA certificate only takes a year and there's a few options in the city.

I have applied to jobs in my field - marketing, journalism, PR. I've even been applying for front desk and admin positions. I have not gotten any acknowledgement of my applying, much less any interviews. FYI I'm using my phone - I won't get Internet or a computer until I have steadier income. (This should give you an idea of my situation).

1. Stripping isn't the big deal that some people here make it out to be. But yes, it can be used against you in court.

2. An overnight sitter might eat up alot of your extra income.

3. Stripping is harder than most people think. Don't automatically assume that you will make alot of money because you are a reasonably attractive woman. Most have to work for years before getting high paying gigs.

You are getting slammed because you haven't written about the other options you have considered and rejected. Sell the computer you are using before you sell your body.

FWIW Op I don't think it could be used against you (I am not an attorney). I'd avoid the obvious pitfalls, such as putting your kids to bed then leaving them unattended to go to work. Keep your kids safe, loved, and well cared for and don't become an addict, you'll be fine in court. You could go as far as documenting every job you apply for in a spreadsheet, the response received, etc, just make sure you're actually putting out a ton of resumés. GL!
