What time did she start her HW? Just asking because it seems odd that a 6th grader would have 6-7+ hours of HW (assuming they got started around 5 or 6).
She either had track or ice skating or hanging out with friends and generally got home at 6 or 7pm. On ice skating day she'd come home right after school to get in a couple of hours of homework before going to ice skating from 8-9:30.
There was one teacher I had to push back against and say this is too much, I'm cutting DD off after she's spent 2 hours on math. And with another teacher she encouraged that we set a time limit and once DD had invested what we agreed on, she was to stop. Sixth grade was the Year of Perfection and DD took that year learning how much effort was appropriate.
Now she's in 9th, and the other day she told me what homework she has and when I asked how long she thought it would take she said "An hour and a half?" and then I timed her. 1 hr 35 min. for two subjects.
