No, but he offered that "we" set up the tent for them. Meaning we drag it to the beach, set up, take down, etc.

The tent wasn't for group use. If it was, others in the group should have offered to set it up, take it down, carry it, etc.
Lady are you for real??? When you bring items for the beach on a beach vacation with a group, it is commonly understood these items might be shared.
You should stop vacationing with others.

Well, it's a slippery slope and we've been there with other people, so I'm wondering if I should step in here. I think I'll just let him do whatever, but not go with his plan to pick up food for everyone. They have legs, plus an au pair.

Do you really control your partner like this all the time? There's no way this relationship will last. I predict next summer the group will be enjoying time with his new girlfriend.

Except it's 9am and he's still sleeping, while other couples with kids have been up since 6am and already out at the beach. Guess they will be going hungry if they are waiting on his mcdonald's.

Yes, you should let him do what he wants, because perhaps this is part of the fun of the trip for him - being part of a group, sharing space, even getting breakfast at McDonalds.
