Subject: Classroom placement letters

Do you have Open House too? We do both and there is not a lot of time to prepare for Open House Thursday. Of course we have a full day on Friday to work. I'd rather have Open House Friday and the full day in my room Thursday.
They never do it on Friday because it used to be labor day weekend before school started and a lot of people go away for a long weekend.
When my children were at Chesterbrook the Open House was always on Friday afternoon before Labor Day. The kindergarteners did their thing Friday morning. The long weekend did not make a difference.

This is the VA public schools forum, not the private schools forum.
My kids' elementary school does this and it's not private. We live in Fairfax County.

Ours was always on the Friday before Labor Day and was well attended. Now it is the Friday before school begins. I wish it was on Thursday.

When you go to the open house, take a pic of the kids names listed outside the door of the classroom. Then you will have a class list.
There is no new FCPS policy that states that- not sure who told you that. Our school is listing on their website and lists will be up at the school.

That reason doesn't mean anything now though. Open House could be held on Friday. It's not a long weekend.

We go to designated stops and students meet us there. Honestly it takes a lot of time away from preparing for the following week.
Our teachers come to our house. There are just a few neighborhoods that feed to our school, so it might not work other places.
