Even as cheerleaders we were told. taught to lower the pitch of our voices. High shrill voices are so unpleasant. That has changed though, lower voice is no longer the norm for cheer. It changed around the 80's

My voice was high pitched but has shifted over the four years of intensive therapy I've done. I wasn't molested but I was neglected and had terrible self esteem.
I've also read that sometimes vocal pitch is tied to childhood experiences specifically those around puberty and growing up in general. I never acted like a little girl but my voice reflected that as I hadn't embraced my sexuality or womanhood due to damaging experiences to my sense of self in my formative years.
Confidence, stress and fear affect vocal pitch as well. My therapist now points out when my voice changes and it's usually around when I'm talking about feelings I have about how I grew up, or specific experiences.

I do that sometimes, OP, though not in public, so it's not me you've seen, probably.
It takes all kinds, doesn't it?

My SIL does. She's not completely stupid, but she talks like a little girl and plays dumb and easily overwhelmed. She was the baby of the family and she never has to do anything for herself.

In the right moment it can be kind of hot. All the time? Not so much.
