There are major lab accidents that happen in IVF. They are not all publicized. I thought it truly was an accident so I just kept going - the only productive option at the time. It's not like they thought was happened was swell either. I will say though I was _extremely_ pissed when I saw the company later advertised they had never had a lab accident when I knew that was not the case. I guess they wanted to define accident as identification errors. But "error" used alone is ALL errors and I knew that what they were saying wasn't true. In any case, I try to focus on more positive things.

Accident or not, that is not something I would want to happen when I am paying so much money for the IVF process and time invested in the medical procedures. This is not like accidentally stepping on someone’s toe. Embryos- potential lives, money, time, and emotions are involved. It wouldn’t be enough to just say sorry if this happened to me. For the poster on 12/14, what was the major lab accident? Did you need to rebiopsy was your embryos? Was your IVF cycle successful? Thanks.

With the Foundation of Embryonic Competence or FEC, it happened mid-late August 2018. If there was a need to rebiopsy, they would have let you know because the initial results would not be readable or valid. Yes it might have been an accident but I was extremely disappointed with the way it was handled at FEC. And the additional thaw/biopsy/refreeze does affect implantation rates and overall clinical pregnancy success rates, as well as number of embryos if they do not survive the thaw(s).

PP above said the protocol affects the quality of the embryos. This is not true. It only affects the number. This is a common misunderstanding so I wanted to point it out. Sorry for those having issues with the lab testing. I had a major lab accident during my IVF cycles - I chose not to pursue either media attention, anonymous complaints here, or legal remedies. I believed it was an accident. Everyone seemed as though they felt badly about it. It's not something I've heard about happening to anyone else.
