Can't you just ask him about it without being accusatory? That's what I would do because it would bug me too - the randomness of it and the uncertainty resulting from teh randomness.

What's the reason for your concern? I would be thrilled if my DH stayed out that late on occasion.

Nothing good happens after midnight. My only concern would be driving late at night after partying.

There's only one explanation: he's getting some side action. Time to get a lawyer and update your OKC account.

Maybe it was done as an experiment. I tried something similar a few years ago when I went out to Denney's for an entire week. after I got the kids to bed and came back home about the same time my wife woke up. she didn't even notice until the laundry and dishes started to pile up.
