2,500 which I purchased when it was just over 30.00 … put some in my graduates account two years ago as a gift and he has enough for a sizable down payment on his first home, should he choose to use it. Happy days….

Well apple makes up ~3.6% of the S&P 500, and since I have maybe ~$500,000 invested in the S&P500 in various forms that works out to be maybe 120 shares?

In 2011 we hired a financial guy for a "check up" of our overall financial health. He made several decent suggestions but his biggest push was for us to unload our Apple stock. We didn't. We still see the same guy. He's still amazed that we consistently out perform the market (and his recommendations) by choosing low cost index funds and about a dozen individuals stocks that have done extremely well over the years (and zero true losers).

I considered buying some in ~1996. I probably would have gotten $2000 worth. Bought something else instead that has done nothing. I constantly kick myself for that decision, but such is life.
