Jazz is an attractive young woman, I must admit. Caitlyn J. should have been so lucky with her transformation.

I've been watching this season with my trans friend (MTF) who went through male puberty and didn't begin hormones, blockers, or transitioning until age 20. It's very interesting to hear her opinions and to hear how her opinions change as she's watching. She said she always wished that her parents had let her transition when she was younger but they were very anti-trans and anti-gay, but after watching the major issues Jazz has encountered from having male puberty blocked, she's thankful that she had to take the other path. She's had to endure more surgeries (breasts, adam's apple shave, nose job, cheeks done, bottom surgery x2) but as she said, "at least I had enough to work with!"

If they didn't pretty sure the show wouldn't be renewed. You think the Kardashians like talking about their break-ups, cheating scandals, miscarriages, and the time Kim was tied up by robbers in her bathroom and thought she was going to be raped? She didn't go back to Paris for a full year.

This season is intense. Jazz is going through the bottom surgery.

I saw an episode last night and I cringed when Jazz's dad is in the room with the surgeon and Jazz is taking about her lack of sexual desire, if she can have an orgasm, her weight, etc. No way I would have wanted to discuss any of those issues in front of my father, mother, and certainly not in front of a tv audience. Why do her parents allow those details of her sexual functioning to be filmed and aired?

I find watching Jazz fascinating. We get to see the other side of the argument that's often talked about, but not seen in public where the parents let their transgender child live as the correct gender from an early age, stop/delay puberty to prevent the development of the wrong gender, and look into reassignment surgery at a young age.

I can't imagine how hard it is being the parent of a transgender child and having to make these decisions. I mean, I'm sure they thought what they were doing was correct, but now that she can't have reassignment surgery, was it the best choice? What a weight to bare!

My good friend is transgender (MtF), but her parents and doctors didn't believe her (grew up in a small town), so other than wearing girl's clothes and playing with makeup in the privacy of her bedroom, she had to live life as a boy. They kept telling her that she was gay, not transgender, which was just a bit less sinful in their eyes. This was also in the mid-80s when transgender and drag queen were synonymous.

But her story was opposite of Jazz's because she developed fully as a male and didn't get to start taking hormones until college. She then had to undergo several surgeries besides the gender reassignment surgery to correct her overtly male features.

Seeing both sides of the story, it just appears there's no really correct way. Delay/prevent puberty and risk your child not being able to have gender reassignment surgery and never feeling sexual or making them go through puberty as the wrong gender and then face several surgeries later in life.

Watching I am Jazz also shows the struggles of the other siblings. Her twin brothers are very over-looked, IMO. I remember last season (I think) when the one was hurt and the other had a big game that the mom missed because of something going on with Jazz, and he broke down crying about how he always felt second to her. It was just heartbreaking. They seem like amazing brothers, but definitely got shafted by their parents.

It's been hard watching the end of last season and this season because she just seems so miserable and depressed.

Yep, late bloomer ciswoman. Didn't have the term asexual to ponder at age 15-20, but it would have felt right at the time. No hormonal imbalance. I had a normal puberty. Turns out I'm demisexual. Without a strong connection, I don't feel desire. I didn't have an orgasm until 25. And not another until 30.

So you have zero firsthand experience on being transsexual.

No, but I have 2 loved ones who are. A first cousin and a friend from HS. I've had enough frank conversation to know that feeling conflicted about erections and wet dreams among transwomen is not rare.

Oh, and interesting that there's a thread in another forum on DCUM right now about Lupron causing severe depression in the adults who take it for fertility issues.

Do you all know which drug is used as a puberty blocker for minors like Jazz? Lupron.
