Yes, even when very diluted I found Dr. Bronner's to be too drying for my baby's skin.

You really don't need to use soap on small babies. Water is perfectly sufficient and it's kinder on their skin.

DP here - dude, chill. PP is right. Don't hurt your baby with stinging eyes because you want to pinch pennies. Buy Walmart brand baby soap if money's tight, but get something tear free. Unless your baby has freakishly long hair, one bottle will last for months. The 13.5 ounce bottle of baby wash we bought lasted a full year. A small squirt for the hair, then use the suds for the rest of the body. Still what we do for my 30 pound 1.5 year old.

I love the new dove soap for kids and it lasts a long long time.

Buy a good, gentle soap for your baby that won't dry out the skin and sting the eyes. Then buy second hand clothes, make your own baby food, etc. There are ways to stretch the dollar without compromising on the important things.

Yes to all of this. For the first year especially you will use VERY little soap. Buy the most expensive thing around and it'll last a long time.

It will only take one time watching the screaming in pain after you got castile soap in the baby's eyes for you to realize you'd rather spend $30 on a fancy shampoo than do that again. A $10 pump bottle of babyganics will last you the first year. Just get that.

Also check your local FB baby gear giveaway groups - people often get rid of lotions/soaps that didn't work for their child.
