I'm really happy for your baby you are picking another name. It's awful.

It's pretty bad. I like the Bianca suggestion much better.

OP, it's as good as any other name. It is a very strong female name, which some people sadly associate with ugly. To me, it's in the same old school class as Irene, Sophie, Dorothy, Heddy, Margret, etc. Some people like softer, demure names like Bella, which brings to my mind a woman who will be underestimated most of her life. Be bold, OP.

Listen to your DH. Blanche is a terrible name. That said, you can honor her by giving your DD it as a middle name.

Blanche is an incredibly ugly name, imo.

Anonymous wrote:No. Use it as a middle name or find another B name to honor her. Although not my favorite, I think Blaire is better than Blanche. I also had a relative named Blanche, and I think old lady.

Blair is really dated, like from 2000.

I know lots of baby Stellas which is also a streetcar named desire. Blanche is beautiful.

Anonymous wrote:Hi everyone,

I'd like to name our daughter Blanche. I had an aunt Blanche and she was an amazing woman. DH is not sold on the name. Can anyone give me thoughts? He seems to remember Blanche from Golden Girls who was a hot box. He was forced to watch the show when his grandma babysat him sometimes.

What the heck is a hot box?

Also, the word blanch just isn't that appealing either.

+1

Yeah I would go with one of the other names with the same meaning. Like Bianca or Blanca etc. I just don't like the associations with Blanch and I think other names are prettier.
