No it isn't. Bullying has to be sustained over time. This was one tiff between two kids.

Labeling every little infraction as bullying does a major disservice to all who are actually bullied and makes it harder for us to address the problem.

This started as a boy being obnoxious.

As for who was right: this boy needs to learn that society judges his hit much more harshly than her physical actions and he should walk away. If I were his mom, there would be a talking to, but not a big punishment.

All you moms saying the boy was right and the girl should have just walked away, and he was just teasing her because he likes her should know that you are supporting rape culture.

You are in favor of a girl being conditioned she should accept whatever a guy calls her because it's just words and words don't matter. Today it's a nick name she doesn't like, tomorrow it;s calling her bitch, slut, or refferring to various parts of her anatomy, but it doesn't matter because it's just words.
You are teaching the boy that females are just property to be toyed with and they just have to take it and if they get upset too bad.

These are the lessons that matter, not standing outside in a pussy hat or making sure your son knows about your period or your daughter takes enough STEM classes, and that neither of them see Cinderella.

And the worst part would have been the unrelenting grief I would have gotten from my peers! A boy hitting a girl was something that just doesn't happen. You walk away, control the situation, move and avoid getting hit, laugh, whatever. But hit a girl? No chance.

If I were being attacked or mugged that would be one thing. In a playground situation like this,I tell my kid to walk away if possible, not to escalate.

My son fought back against a female bully. Guess who was in more trouble?

I don't normally support a reaction like punching. But she had already scratched and punched him. He can defend himself.

The boy was clearly assaulted and actually showed some restraint. You don't get a free pass to assault someone just because you are a girl. If they were adults, she would likely be going to jail. And you never punch someone once. He should have hit her harder with some combinations.

Both are at fault with the girl holding a majority of it.

I do not condone men hitting women but if a woman thinks she's man enough to punch a man then she's man enough to get punched back no matter her size.
