I think the Republican primaries are going to be enlightening. Yes. Their are Republicans running from Flyover country who stand to get primaried if they abandon Trump. But there are also Republicans from moderate Republican or swing districts who could get primaried by moderate anti-Trump candidates.
I'm looking at you Barbara Comstock. The only way to keep your job is to get off the fence and come down on the side of impeachment.

I keep hearing that it's only Republican unfavorables that matter, because politicians in gerrymandered districts are only worried about primaries. I think this misses the fact that a number of states have open primaries. I'm a VA Dem who absolutely plans to vote for the anti-Trump candidate in the Republican primary. If Democrats were smart, they would be getting the word out early and often that independents and democrats need to show up and vote in the Republican primary. That's how you. make the 36% of America that approves of Trump irrelevant in a gerrymandered world.

It's just that I have to keep re-remembering, you know? I wake up and go about my day, and every time there's that little wince. Maybe it's a stupid-ass tweet, maybe it's blatant giggling treason by another of his nepotistic staff. I never know which direction it's going to come from.

Trump is over 70 years old. He eats crap and does not believe in exercise. The stress of being President is clearly taking its toll. He is piling on weight and looks terrible. He's gone from being able to keep up a campaign schedule to needing to hide away and recuperate with Fox News for a week between international trips. He does not have 3 1-2 more years of this in him.

Am I the only one who thinks it's possible that this ends with him having a heart attack or stroke while in office? My bet is on natural causes before impeachment, resignation or the 2020 election.

And I keep hearing Bernie might run again (he's 75 right now) and Biden might run (he's 74). They are not doing the Democrats any favors. It's time for the Boomers to move on gracefully, and make room for the next generation. America does not need the person they elect in 2020 to be nearly 80 either.

I'm holding out hope that the Rs in congress will eventually be forced to look at impeachment. As more and more info comes to light, they won't be able to keep turning a blind eye. They have their own reelection to think about and they need more than just Trump supporters. They need moderate republicans and some independents, which are abandoning Trump in droves. Rs in congress are really stuck between a rock and a hard place right now, but they have no one to blame but themselves.

I disagree. Sure, the Democrats made mistakes. But voter suppression, Russian meddling (and collusion?), and the media's focus on BUT HILLARY'S E-MAILS! -- among other things -- also played a part.

Hillary was distrusted by 70% of the voters - a greater percentage than even Trump. It does not matter whether that was fair - perception is reality as they say.
