Commit to waiting until your divorce is final before dating. This will give you time to stand on your own two feet and live your own life, not life with others. You will be much better prepared for whatever comes next. During this period stay busy with work, exercise etc. etc.

I was in a series of relationships and then got divorced. I was excited at the time to be able to sort of reinvent myself or discover who I was (whichever it might have been) without a significant other. I deliberately chose to move to an out of the way, quiet part of town. Honestly, it sounds so cliche but focus on yourself. I had a lot of quiet nights sitting on my porch reading a book. One thing I couldn't do when I was married was sit in total peace and quiet because my ex husband constantly had to have the TV blaring--i never even hooked up cable at my new place. I taught myself how to make some new meals. I walked my dog more. Now, I'm in a new relationship but after finding out the things I really loved but couldn't do when my ex was around, I've held onto them and the new person (who's actually not new at all at this point because it's been over 3 years we are together now) has to accept them because it's really part of who I am. I feel like taking the time to myself for many months and putting dating on the back burner has really helped me bring my best self and true self to my current relationship.
