If you constantly have to call your DC Council member to get anything done they we have other issues. They should be big picture budget issue orientated but find themselves attending to the small stuff because that's what the voters understand. Your average voter doesn't have the slightest understanding of the DC budget and so there really isn't any reason for anyone, the mayor or any other the council members to pay too much attention to it.
That said, the people in Ward 7/8 don't have a functional hospital, doesn't Nadeau chair that committee?
Very few voters actually elected Nadeau. Apathy won again and she beat a candidate (Jim Graham) that had serious ethical issues. Brianne talks a good game but she'll continue to address and talk and you'll feel good about that and either A. Demographic changes cure your problems or B. You'll wake-up a decade from now with the same issues. Good luck.

Why do people act so surprised? She ran on a social justice platform. If people didn't like her "agenda" (too immigrant and LGBTQ friendly for you?), then how did she get elected?
Anyway, I feel she's pretty much what I expected. Perfect? No. But she's committed to all of Ward 1 and is the only candidate, so far, with experience across the entire ward and it's diverse constituents.
My primary concerns are education, Latino and Immigrant issues, liberal social justice stuff, and housing. I haven't seen anything from the others that convinces me they'd have more to offer than Brianne in these areas.
Living in Ward 1 for 10+ years or being born here should not be the primary value of a candidate.
Competition is a good thing. Let's hope there's some serious alternatives and not viral social media gimmicks.
Naduea has failed in constituent services. I didn't vote for her to be the antidote to a republican congress. We need to her to address crime, especially getting smarter on juvenile crime.
