Ballard farmers' market on Sunday, breakfast/brunch at Portage Bay Cafe, then visit the Ballard Locks for the fish ladder and sea lions. (Depending on the season ... if the salmon are trying to head into Lake Union, the sea lions will be there to catch them.)

If by the fish market, you mean the Pike Place public market, the last couple of times I've been there, it was so touristy and crowded.
