sounds like you are very smart and if you got offered 25% more you are more than likely to get 25% more here.
If you market yourself and start looking for a job youd find the same salary here. Same goes for your DH
Just go out and find a better job and stay here. Boston had 2 seasons, winter and spring for 2 months. DC is 10000% better

I would take the job in Cambridge.
Too many people let their homes chain them down, rent it out and if you can't the sell it, even in you take a small loss, the positives of the new job are significant.

It's not easy being an out of state landlord. You may have to hire a company or someone to take care of the repairs. Which will eat into profits. Even worse, you already estimate a negative cash flow. Mortgage > rent is a big liability. Can you afford to pay mortgage when tenent moves out? Also condos don't appreciate in value as compared to SFH or townhouse. As an investment, it's not worth it.

Take the job and go. It sounds like both of you will be better off career wise, and a wash financially.

OP, sounds like moving makes the most sense. I don't get the impression that your family is tied to this area, outside of having a mortgage.

Agreed. How many people in Cambridge do you think are reading DCUM? I do, but we're military who've lived in VA before. I don't think I have much company here.
