Even though FCPS increased their pay scales a year ago, the steps on the salary scale have smaller increments. Therefore, even if a first year teacher in FCPS makes a couple thousand dollars more than a first year teacher in APS, by step 10, an APS teacher will make 7-8K more depending on their education level.

I was hired in APS as a first year teacher years back and so were many of my friends. June 15th is the deadline for APS to hire anyone currently employed in a neighboring county (local district agreement) so perhaps you will hear after that deadline.
Good luck! I love working in APS and wouldn't leave the county unless I moved from the DMV.

Its better to teach in APS because they pay a lot more. That has nothing to do with "top schools".
I would trade some money up to a point for the opportunity to teach brighter kids. My understanding is that FCPS has a lot of hard-working Asian kids and that's not really the case in APS.
