Hmm- a woman can: 1: far more easily lie about being on birth control (iud/pill) or the timing of their cycle, 2: use a morning after pill or get an abortion regardless of the guy's feelings on the matter (or contrarily refuse to do so and demand child support), 3: fail to disclose a pregnancy and raise the child solo or give it up for adoption....somehow I'm not feeling a whole lot of sympathy for your friend (female here by the way)

She is not trapped. She could have an abortion. She could reliquinsh her rights to him and the list goes on and on.

Pull-out isn't a 100% and shouldn't be used unless you are in a situation where you can deal with a pregnancy. Never mind STIs/STDs. I doubt your friend tests or requires her partners to.

It's wrong in both cases. If you deceive someone, lead them to believe you are using birth control and then don't, it's wrong. It doesn't matter if it is a woman or a man doing it.

That said, if you absolutely don't want to get pregnant (if you are a woman) or you don't want to get someone pregnant (if you are a man), it's a good idea to take matters into your own hands, no matter what the other person says and either get on birth control or wear a condom or insist your partner wear a condom (that you watch him open and put on).

I don't necessarily agree that birth control falls to the women. But control over my body falls on me. If I want to make sure I don't get pregnant and I'm having sex, I take the necessary precautions. This isn't something to rely on someone else for.
