He does seem quite confused a lot of the time. I can't really tell if this is new or not, because I used to try to avoid listening to him before he was sworn in.
Frontline did a show a couple of months ago with a lot of footage from him on the campaign trail. He still had the confused, word salad speaking-style, but he seemed much more "with it" than he does when he speaks these days. Honestly, the way they edited it, I understood his appeal a little better. Now, not sure if it's the stress of the Presidency or something like dementia, but he really does seem off. Even compared to the debates, he comes across a lot more incoherent now.
