If you care about reliability and longevity I would not buy Pacifica. If you replace your cars every 3 years I don’t think it matters, except maybe the resale hit you will take. I traded a 3.5 year old Odyssey in for a new one (decided we wanted the DVD player after all) and the first van had only depreciated $8,500 in 40 months. We drive it for $212 a month.

Our odyssey died and we replaced it with the Pacifica hybrid. So nice to never buy gas! It feels like basically the same car, although there have been some recalls on the software that required software updates (mainly affecting stuff I don’t use like cruise control or unconnect).

We are considering both as well. We keep our cars and aren't worried about trade in later.

Odyssey will get a better trade and over all more reliable (based on what folks say). Pacifica costs less and the stow and go is a great option and has better options.

I would wait to see the Odyssey 2018, if you can.

If we had to choose right now, we'd go with the Pacifica, due to price and options available.

Did you look at the Sienna?

Starting in 2012, the Odyssey started having a lot of problems. Pretty much every month we were sinking several hundred dollars into replacing parts and fixing things.
We got a Town and Country and still have it. Chrysler doesn't have the Town and Country anymore, now they have the Pacifica.
My vote would be for the Pacifica.


You must be really unlucky. My inlaws bought a new Oddessy in 2001 and still drive it daily with 270,000 on the odometer.
