You know, I've posted a lot of really nasty stuff on DCUM, but I will still never understand stooping to this level. Even if his life wasn't relevant to you, it's still a human life. He wasn't some made up name, he was a human being with children and a family who is now gone forever. I'm sure somebody you love has died before. Try to keep that feeling with you, it makes you a more humane person.

umm he clearly didn't care about them, he hung himself, how selfish does one have to be?

I'm sad; he was an amazing talent. He'd been depressed since his youth, and I won't pass judgment on him. I suffered from severe depression at one point and know what that black hole feels like. There but for the grace and all that...

I think I'm in shock a bit reading this. I've been a huge fan for years and I think he has contributed so much to the music world, and especially within the music I listen to. He was an incredible talent. I can't believe it

Wonder if it was an erotic asphyxiation error rather than actual suicide?

I wasn't a Soundgarden fan, but he did quite a bit after that -- Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, solo. Great voice!

I know this sounds callous but it was so selfish of him. I understand deep, deep depression.... I've been hospitalized for it before and was almost in a catatonic state for months. But since becoming a parent (my oldest are now both 10) I live for them.
It would kill them as well as me if I killed myself.
I wonder (or should I say I bet) his years of drug use contributed greatly to this... I'm sure any fragment of rational thinking was blunted, his impulse control (suicide is almost almost a final impulsive act) was diminished.

Ugh.

Yes! When a parent commits suicide it increases the likelihood that the child will follow suit, for that very reason I would deal with my misery before taking my life.

I loved him. Soundgarden was one of the bands that made rock music really good again. Amazing voice.

He also had an older daughter from his first marriage. So incredibly sad. All around.

I don't understand suicide; but I guess that a good thing.

I can't imagine what could be so painful that you'd ruin everything for your wife, children, friends, family and business associates.

Sorry, his solo is on Alice in Chains, Right Turn.

I love his recent song, Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart. That voice! Sigh.

Also my husband and I recently sang Hunger Strike at karaoke and it was hilarious. What a great song.

So sad, whatever the reason for his death.
