My son is going up there for summer and they spoke of meeting up but I would guess they only date fellow Mormans. They almost seemed too good to be true, was really impressed with them....does anyone know much about them? So curious....
Not sure your question, but I'm a Mormon and would be happy to answer any questions you have. Mormons do have a reputation for being nice and friendly, and we are, but I assure you Mormons can also be mean, cruel, judgmental, etc. just like anybody else. But we aim to be nice and I think most of us are.
Dating outside of the religion is discouraged but not forbidden or anything. My husband is a non-member and I am fully active in the church. A pp mentioned that dating isn't recommended until 16 and then they encourage kids not to get very serious about dating one person. But even that is just a recommendation. My brother and his high school sweetheart just had their 4th kid, so some relationships do get serious.

They do put a lot of emphasis on family and the kids are generally a lot more polite to adults than regular teens. They expect extreme devotion to church and adherence to church laws, including mandatory tithing and church assigned responsibilities, so there's that.

Really? That's what OP started with and then she goes on and on about how lovely they are to downplay that she wants her son to marry into a rich family...

That said, I know two Mormon families really well and they have seen ten times more (and I mean that) adultery and serial monogamy than my Jewish husbands family has had. They aren't proud of it but there are some messy stories. In one family all three sisters had been married three times. Another uncle had been married and divorced five times. Now part of that is that the only way they can have sex is through marriage, and if they get passionate, there's no waiting. But trust me. They have their messes.
