I am in one with 6 old friends, some out of town, none of whom I see that often, and it's fantastic. We hit every conceivable topic. Sometimes its dormant for a week, and then will have hundreds of texts in a 2-day stretch.

I like them. I'm in one with a group of 5 girlfriends, some of whom don't live nearby. It allows us keep up with each other and sometimes we discuss current events and whatnot.

I also have a group text thread with DH and our parents that we use to share photos and funny stories about the grandkids.

Why do you care about what inane things your teenagers are talking about? They probably think your conversations with your friends are stupid too.
