I agree with this. I enjoyed both shows, but liked Roseann more because it seemed more "real." Fwiw, I grew up in a household not especially similar to either show.

The first few seasons were good then I think the show list its way with the whole lottery thing. The point of the show was to depict a real working class family.

Man, my conservative dad HATED Roseanne. Really didn't understand why an overweight woman would dare be in tv. I loved it. It marked the beginning of realizing we see the word in totally different ways.

The last 2-3 seasons were awful, and I think Roseanne thought the show was suddenly more important than it was. It WAS ground-breaking, but you still have to be funny and good. Anything pre-1995 was gold. I still love the reruns (thanks Logo!)

I hate that final episode, especially where Roseanne made Jackie a lesbian. It ran contrary to her character considering so many of her issues had to do with men and her relationships with them.

I think Dan DID die - in the dream they were divorced and won the lottery In the final episode it's revealed that Jackie was actually a lesbian, Darlene and Becky both had married each other's spouses...and I think there was another twist. These episodes were new when I was in elementary school. I loved how different they were than my family.

My parents watched this show when I was little, and like the PP, I remember them laughing hard. I was in elementary school, so a lot of jokes were over my head. Every now and then I'll watch an episode and can see why my parents liked it. I think it's so real for many working class families throughout America. That's why it resonates with people.

The premise is that last season was all a dream, Dan didn't die, they never won the lottery.

,^^that is a good question. Much like the Will & Grace Revival. The show ended with Will and Grace not talking for 20 years and catching up with their kids in College. How are they going to do that show? I think a lot of the shows are just rewriting the ends of their series

Roseanne is maybe my favorite sitcom of all time. One of my favorite Roseanne moments: the phone rings, Roseanne answers in the kitchen. It's for Darlene, who's on the couch. Darlene without moving asks who it is. Roseanne asks and tells her. Darlene says "what does she want?" Roseanne starts to ask then throws the receiver on the floor and goes "She wants you to get up and pick up the phone."

I enjoyed it as a teenager; I was a little older than Becky when the show came on and I came from a similar background right down to the afghan on the back of the couch. I still enjoy it now as an adult.

I caught an episode not too long ago and it really brought me back. Shows these days just aren't that funny anymore. Rosanne was hilarious. I wish someone would make a show that was as funny and relevant as Rosanne.
