Unfortunately it happens at poor schools, too. The drug problem is growing and it is scary. It seems to be on a few fronts including prescription medications as well as kids beginning with gateway weed and moving into harder stuff more quickly than 'the good old days'. It could also be that the high is more intense and the younger kids aren't recognizing the risks.

The W/L death was supposedly natural causes. That is what was reported to me by my W/L student.


I remember that movie where Michael Douglas was the father and his daughter was a rich, white HS girl addicted to heroin. Those scenes where he goes looking for and finds her with that dealer drugged out of her mind always stuck with me.

Truly horrifying for any parent to deal with. Ugh. Your poor friend. My heart goes out to her and her daughter.

The drug problem at Williamsburg, Yorktown, other APS schools, and schools in general is downright terrifying. It is so disheartening to see what's going on and, more than anything, parents have to get their heads out of the sand. Stop taking such a casual attitude toward this issue and be proactive. Look above. A student did od, but was, thankfully, just hospitalized. The dealer was an 8th grader.

The WMS overdose did not result in death, but did require hospitalization.

Actually LSD is making a comeback and has been going around Yorktown. Prescription pills are the real problem though, if you don't mind the alcohol & pot.



The new LSD can been mail ordered from China. The USPS cannot detect it. It's cheap. It looks like sheets of stickers. Every parent should educate themselves on the ease of mail order drugs. Google LSD from China.

Also sad that the family felt the need to tell us all that. Bad enough to deal with that kind of loss without worrying about the judgment of strangers.

The student death at WL was absolutely from natural causes.
