You can call ATS to find out if you got in. They are thrilled when they get to say "yes" to a caller! You should get the email soon if you were accepted, though.

Thank you, that's a valid point. We are leaning towards Campbell. Just hard to give up the immersion option, we have heard a LOT of positive feedback about Claremont.

Not a Campbell parent, but if it were me I Would pick Campbell simply due to the size. I think Claremont is having 6 kindergartens next year. IF your child is able to remain bilingual without immersion school I would do Campbell. However---that's just my opinion. (we didn't apply to Campbell and kind of wish we had)

Could any Campbell parent please comment a bit on how kids adapt to middle school after Campbell? Or any other info about Campbell would be great. We got into Campbell and Claremont and are very torn about what to pick. Child is bilingual.

How did you manage to transfer at a later date?

Another Campbell parent here. I happen to also think there are a bit too many VPI slots making it a fairness issue to me. But, I would not say that raising the issue gets you "shut down." I have said a couple things here and there to PTA and parents when the transfer topic comes up. Most people do disagree with me, but no one is nasty about it. People apply to Campbell because they believe in the mission and the method of instruction and well, it is just a great little school that I wish more families could enjoy! We didn't go through the K lottery, we transferred in later for a specific reason. Oh, and the PTA is quite impressive with great leaders and school support. I should go to more meetings. Wetlands Festival this weekend, yeah!

Got it, thanks!

We were not 250s in the waitlist. It was the number we drew among all the applications. She said our waitlist position would be our number minus 96.

NP, but that's not right. There are 96 K seats in next year's kindergarten class at ATS. (Which is up from the 72 K seats available before an additional K classroom was added this year.) Some portion of those seats will be reserved for siblings and VPI students. I'm not sure how many; maybe about 40? The number will obviously vary from year to year. The siblings and VPI students are, however, included in the total applicants number.

277-96 = 181 though, so how is anyone in the 250's of the waiting list?...i'm confused

I know of someone with a waitlist number in the mid-30's at Campbell.

I wonder how many applicants there were to Campbell overall? Seems like the odds might have been worse to get a spot there than ATS.

Which is a shame, because I really liked what I saw at Campbell and I think my kid would have loved going there.

Not all parents at Campbell support so much VPI (that is, the non-VPI parents). They just cannot say anything because they will be shut down. There are siblings, but most of the the siblings are .... from kids that got in from VPI!

And how much parental PTA participation is there at Campbell??? Was a survey done, or was it just those who showed up.

Bummer, wish I had known that. You were in the 250's because of the sibling and VPI kids?
