How much did you fund into it? It's meaningless without assets. Most people aren't in a position to sink millions into a trust while raising young kids. Just have more than enough life insurance and everything else goes to the spouse.


That's not how it works. The trust contains no assets until you die. It is funded by your estate. Your will directs the assets to "pour-over" into your trust.

This is why people need to see a lawyer. Hire a professional, please!

Even if it is $2k or $10k, it is worth it. My husband passed and we have 3 kids. That goodness he was a financial planner and we had everything taken care of before he died. What you do not want is for the surviving spouse to have to deal with this while grieving.

Grief will knock you on your ass and having to deal with legal stuff at the same time is horrible.
