Do people live under rocks that they don't know about easter baskets? I get it if you are overseas but not if you live in the USA. The look on a child's face is priceless when they get a full easter basket.

No. His birthday was in march, so I'm still burnt out on the gifts. We hid eggs in the basement last night for when he wakes up (no mention of a "bunny" in our house though).

Easter has always been a really religious holiday to me (even though we're not practicing any more). I don't want to water down the significance of it with toys and bunnies.

Wait, but your kids are getting Easter baskets already from your MIL? My mother travels to see us and does the baskets too----why would I do a second basket for them? I think you're more than ok OP.

I'm surprised so many people on here don't give Easter baskets. Everyone I know is giving one. I grew up getting them every year along with eggs hidden in the backyard by the Easter bunny. My mother's parents did the same thing and we do the same thing with our kids.

Well, I disagree with your methods (asking someone to share special chocolate would be a bit of a crisis in my household ) but I admire your commitment to keeping things simple!

Eh, I really enjoy putting together gifts like this for my kids, and seeing their excitement. So I do it for Easter and Valentines. No shame if it's not your thing, they won't know the difference.

Yes, but we don't go regularly. We've done easter service a couple times. Our in laws are hosting the easter dinner and egg hunt.

NP. Thanks, I had no idea that's a thing. I grew up overseas.

And to answer OP's question: I wasn't even planning to buy an empty basket for the neighborhood egg hunt. I figured her purse would do just as well. I recently gave away two baskets that we never used, and not about to buy one for to use a few hours, then take up space unused again.
