I am in San Juan right now and it has been raining. Has not ruined our trip at all! People are still swimming in the ocean during the rain. For our beach days, I prefer the cloudy weather since the kids are less likely to get burned. We explored one of the forts yesterday while it was raining. Thank goodness for the umbrellas! Bring emergency ponchos.

I forget how old you said your kids were, but during the rain send your kids to the kids club and go under a beach umbrella or back to your room to read/have sex. The rain doesn't ruin days like it does here?

We went to the DR in November and rain was predicted daily. We did not have the best weather but never lost a full day to rain. In fact we were at the beach one day when it started pouring. We huddled under our tiki huts with our drinks and towels and rode it out. 30 min later the kids were back in the water. The biggest downside was that the pool was too cold to spend much time in since the weather hadn't been too hot. We did got to Cancun once where literally one entire day was a semi tropical storm. We spent a decent amount of time in the kids club with the kids, then they went to watch a movie with the kids club, did a dance lesson, played pool and ping pong, and we spent a lot of time eating. I will say we did buy 1 hour of internet that day (wasn't included at the time). What we didn't know was that after a storm like that the water would be rough and the kids weren't allowed to snorkel--we should have done it our first day, but oh well.

It called for rain every day when we were in mexico and barely rained! So don't worry until you get there

Cancun area and south is totally fine for driving. I've rented cars multiple times and driven all over the Yucatan, as recently as spring of 2016. It's totally safe, you won't get a shake down. Don't drive after dinner, lots of DUI and drug smuggler check points. You'll get shaken down, if you're violating the law.

At an all-inclusive? You'll have an easy trip. Your biggest concerns will be weather, mosquitoes, and kelp overgrowth in the ocean.

It will be fine. Just...disappointed that's all. Kids are on the younger side so keeping them occupied is more of a challenge--we're not quite at the board games and reading on your own stage.

ironically I went to costa rica solo years ago during the height of the rainy season prepared for rainy activities and had an entirely dry trip.

At pools and beaches, you get...wet. If it's warm rain and no lightning/thunder, you can still enjoy both pools and beaches. And it's probably a much cheaper vacation than you could have gotten December-March, because the rainy season starts in April.

+1 This. Tropical rain doesn't last all day as a PP mentioned. You'll be fine.

Rain in Mexico doesn't mean the same thing as rain here. It's the tropics. The kids won't care if it's raining. Just pack lots of changes of clothes and I'd pack some waterproof or water-resistant picnic blankets. When you get there, see if you can buy a beach umbrella right away.

We've been here all week, coming home Saturday. Not one drop of rain yet
