There has been an unabated epidemic of murders since the riots following the arrest/death of Freddy Grey.
Couple these facts with incompetent leadership, and Baltimore city's future is not bright.
Why waste a high speed rail line on Baltimore?
DC was the same way. A 15 minute commute to 150k housing stock?
But the transit within Baltimore is non-existent. What caused gentrification in D.C. was a certain urban, walkable lifestyle. Metro helps with that.
In Baltimore, there is nothing equivalent to Metro. So maglev will get you to one section of Baltimore, but it won't link up with any transit within Baltimore.

you don't know that so stfu

I don't want to be exposed to people being brought into D.C. who can only afford $150K homes. It's a low brow crowd.

A world of new possibilities will open to people living in the Northeast Corridor when an SCMAGLEV train can take them from Washington to New York in less than an hour. Passengers can catch a Broadway show and be back in D.C. later that evening. Businesspeople can attend meetings in different cities without staying overnight. Air travelers can choose from numerous airports, as opposed to the one that is closest.
SCMAGLEV will revolutionize travel and convenience for commuters moving between Washington, D.C. and New York City, through Baltimore, Wilmington and Philadelphia, as well as the Baltimore-Washington, Philadelphia and Newark International Airports.
What would you do with an extra 100 minutes? That’s how much time you’d save each way if you took the SCMAGLEV instead of the Acela from D.C. to New York City.
But such a train would have to pass through parts of Bowie, no matter which one of a half-dozen routes is chosen for the enterprise. Routes could run along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, or along the current Amtrak route, or along the old Washington Baltimore and Annapolis Railroad lines. All the routes feature a stop at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport[/quote]

That would change that airport.

It's a decaying, crime-ridden, violent pit of a city with zero redeeming qualities. It's like a far stupider, more dangerous version of Cincinnati, but without the charm.
They should bypass Bmore and build that track straight to midtown Manhattan. Then they'd have something. D.C. to NYC in 40 minutes? Yes, thanks.
