I am truly curious - those saying 'clean your own house' and calling out lazy - is it that you enjoy cleaning? I have ZERO desire to clean bathrooms, dust, aimless vacuuming. I honestly don't mind giving the kitchen counters a good scrub but I am thrilled to pay someone to clean my refrigerator, put away toys and clutter. I am not lazy just find no satisfaction in any of this work

To the pp above I don't think the pp was talking to someone who couldn't afford house cleaners. If you can't afford it than you don't have a choice. Either you do it or it stays dirty. She was talking to people who can afford it but, don't. I am not one of them but, my SIL loves to clean her house. She finds it enjoyable and relaxing. I don't use cleaners because I find out that they start out great but, because I am a "soft" boss they soon begin to slack off and do no better than me!

Not pp, but I just don't care. Op if the current cleaners are rough, change them. Agree with suggestion for same cleaning woman or team, the cleaning would be more stable and predictable (not necessarily gentler), but then you can give specific instructions and keep looking until you find "the one".

No pp most people do not "like" to clean. But it is a decent amount of money to have a regular cleaner. Some people decide it is not worth the cost or they don't think they can swing it.

hmm... I sort of do. I really like mundane cleaning tasks like vacuuming, organizing, ironing and doing dishes. Dishes are peaceful to me at the end of a long, crazy, stressful day. My MIL says the same. I'm totally a sane, normal person too and no OCD. I've never hired a cleaning lady because I'm able to stay on top of it myself and because I don't think they'd clean like I do. I grew up with a housekeeper.

I'm one of the only homeowners on our street to clean my own house, but you're right, I *did* wonder! Perhaps that's why everyone on the street knows each other's business
However, if I were to have a busier schedule and more money, I would absolutely hire her: she apparently does a good job, and it would be worth it - it's not as if I have anything in particular to hide...
