DD (9) loves Master Chef Junior and Brain Games. She and DS (6) just started watching Young Indiana Jones, which they also like so far.

We don't allow any sitcoms -- even the ones for tweens that supposedly have some positive messages woven in.

I've read a few articles saying that the negative modeling by the "bad" characters (or even the sarcastic/sassy ones) outweighs any positive messages. No clue if that's true, but so far we've avoided all the "mean girl" and "friendship drama" stuff like the plague.

American Ninja Warrior! There are some phenomenal female contestants.

Is this an actual series or the movie?

NP here, but it's a series. I thought it was really good, although I've read mixed reviews. I'm a big fan of the books and didn't enjoy the movie at all,

LOVED Just Add Magic.

My DD and I are watching The Gilmour Girls together. I've been watching ahead and occasionally skip an episode, so far only the only reason is if Loralai is obviously sleeping with a romantic interest. The main characters are kind and try to do right by each other, Rory's struggles in her new school have started multiple conversations about bullying, hard work and doing the right thing, Rory's relationship with her boyfriend is sweet, chaste and age appropriate. I anticipating having to take a hiatus after season 3, but so far it's been a great mother/daughter watch.

Np here. Yes! My kids love master chef kids too! Also, Cake Boss but you may not like it for your 8 year old, OP.
I haven't heard of Kids Project Runway.... I'm gonna look it up! thanks.

These shows are great for younger kids too, meaning siblings can watch together. Masterchef Kids is my 5-year-old's favorite show, and she's even eating more because the kids on the show make all kinds of interesting things!

My 9 yo loved The Kicks on Amazon Prime. Middle school girls but very tame, not too much meanness at all.
