I'm a planner. The not knowing either way is hard for me personally.
I guess i would be more anxious if our base school wasn't AAP, he'll be going to the same school either way.

Close or not, the schools aren't rolling the red carpets out for students who are offered acceptance. After all, it isn't as if it is this elite few who are offered acceptance. It is lots of kids who are offered spots. Lots.
The school called because they were worried some people wouldn't get the letter before the orientation. How is that rolling out the red carpet? That's just doing make sense given the tight timeframe. Other schools' orientations weren't as close, so didn't call. You can choose not to believe if you feel better doing that.
