OP, go get the book Dr. Dog and read it with your son. It's hilarious, he'll enjoy it and it will get the message across about thumbsucking and worms.

Op, I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds stressful.

Having two finger suckers I'm almost afraid to ask - but what was the symptoms?

I have no issues washing the PBK backpack and lunch box. Machine was on gentle cycle and hang them to dry. No issues.

11:02 - Pin-ex did nothing for my DD, but she is 17 now so maybe there is new-fangled medicine available over the counter.

Those who successfully treated first time. How long after second dose did you continue daily mopping, washing, etc. ?

It's crazy how common this is but I had never heard of it before. The daily mopping, vacuuming and laundry is daunting. I am trying to figure out how many weeks I need to clean like this. Thinking 3. I just don't want a recurrence.

Ugh we went through 2 rounds of this with our 6yo in the last 6 months. It's extremely frustrating. I suspect she is getting exposed at school and there is only so much we can do. Our doctor did not recommend treating everyone unless they showed symptoms and did not advise a second treatment unless we saw worms. I suspect it's a balance of taking the poison for the good it does, but avoiding it unless absolutely necessary.

After going all over to find it I just bought like 6 boxes. Worried about reinfection after reading too much on the internet. I wanted to be prepared!

Our pediatrician said the same thing, no prescription. also agree with above, Walgreens was the only place i could find it. Calcualte dosing so you have enough. I think we needed 2 bottles to cover 2 doses for all

PP - the medication that knocks them out is a prescription medication, honestly I would get dosage for every member of my family and hoard some of it for later.

Yep. I only found it at Walgreens. CVS said they were out for months.

Pin-X can be found at Walgreens -- but that was the only place that had it.

We have a pottery Barn one and matching lunchbox. Rookie mistake on my part. A pain to clean under normal circumstances even. Won't make the same mistake for first grade. I vacuumed it and will hot water wash tomorrow and then let it air dry over the weekend given time. Thank you so much for the suggestion.
