That's what I'm doing. I like my job, I believe in my agency's mission, and I don't see why I should leave if I don't have to (meaning unless I am asked to do something unethical or illegal).

To be fair, some skill sets are more transferable to the private sector than others. There just aren't private-sector equivalents for everything that government employees do.

But yes, feds would get unemployment.

No, he's nominated like 20 people out of hundreds of positions. There are lots of vacancies in the political appointee slots. Right now, the day-to-day stuff is all being run by career employees.

Going elsewhere, and I have been here for over 10 years. Trump election obviously isn't the only thing leading me out of DC but it is just the kick in the butt I needed to get out the door.

I love my job, and it's not in danger, but I can't take being a lawyer for these fuckwits anymore. And I served with great pride during the previous 2 administrations.

In similar position and with similar opinion. The main thing keeping me from moving on is the job/life balance.

I'm looking. Not "seriously" but starting to look. It doesn't have to do with Trump though. I've been a fed for 18 months and it was the biggest mistake of my career and I don't want my career to consist of collecting an entitlement paycheck. So I'd like to move on.

Yes, Feds can collect unemployment if they are forced out.
No they can't cash out their TSP unless they are retirement age.
Yes they have transferrable skills - most of the people I work with are project or program managers, most have graduate degrees, many have subject matter expertise in various areas (science, engineering, law, etc), many of them have prior private sector experience. Most of them could do quite well in private sector, and chose to become public servants because they believe in the mission or because they wanted to serve their country. I think you are mistaken if you think they equate to low-wage/unemployable outside federal service.

When I was a fed, we had a running joke about government "ruining" us, making us useless on the job market.

Yep. Them and their "frameworks" and "governance" and "agile development" (which is anything but) and endless meetings on going over charts for the 39th time to make sure the charts have the correct font and interdepartmental logo and other useless/meaningless jobs programs.

Things get powerpointed and wordsmithed to death and then end up deep in a folder that everyone ignores and no one ever looks at again.
