We went with a budget tour that I can't remember the name of but they were recommended to us by a friend who worked at the US consulate in Nairobi - they used them often for consulate safaris. Abercrombie and Kent is kind of the rolls Royce of African safaris but I always felt like they cater too much to the weird colonialist fantasy types. The kind of folks who show up at the airport in pith helmets and want the whole "out of Africa" experience. Btw - if you get a chance to visit Isaac Denison' house, it's pretty neat.

Don't go to Kenya this August- they are having elections! Best to wait for that to pass....

Make sure to stop by David Sheldrick and feed the baby elephants as well!

Whether you go to Kenya or Tanzania if you are looking at that area depends on the time of year and where the animals are. They migrate with the rains so you will need to go where the animals are if you want to see the bulk of the herds (and the predators that follow the herds). If you want to see the migration, again you have to go at specific times of year.

Not the pp but have done several safaris. It gets scary when animals get a little too close. Like almost walking through a hippo pod late a night. A lion in camp. Or being stuck in your tent because an elephant is outside. On a game drive we were charged by a Cape buffalo

You probably shouldn't expose yourself to such things. It sounds like you're not equipped for it.

Went in 2003 and flew to Masai Mara. Stayed at Mara Serena. Have know idea if it's still good, but was very nice then.
