We had a pretty disappointing experience with Dr Resnik. Poorly written observation, incomplete report (cut and paste like other parents have mentioned). Unless you suspect ADHD as a diagnosis, don’t even bother seeing her. That’s all she knows and pushes in all her evals.

Skip onto the next psychologist. A close family friend in the profession shared with us that she is disauthentic and provides very subjective evaluations. We were happy with KKI.

This is Rebecca Resnik, writing to apologize to anyone who has had difficulty calling our practice. Since my practice expanded to more clinicians than Verizon business phone systems could manage, I invested in a digital phone system. Unfortunately, when the system has connectivity problems, or they perform a systems upgrade, calls may not go through for a period. We have no way of knowing there was an issue until someone tells us. Again, I am very sorry that any parents were not able to reach us. We are working with the phone company to improve our system.

We do receive a high volume of calls for our office manager, Marsha, during her hours. We do our best to make at least 2 attempts to respond to voicemails/emails. We know how hard it can be for parents to find the time to call, and as a busy working mother myself, I get that having to call a business more than once is frustrating. We are always trying to balance to two goals-- that of calling parents quickly, but still taking the time to have a real conversation with everyone who calls us.

I take the calls that come in after 2 pm, and respond to all the email forms that come through our website. Anyone can reach me directly by selecting option 2 on the main # to be connected directly to my cell.

We have a list of names for private evaluators. We are looking for someone who spcializes in ADD/ODD? Any recommendations? The reviews on this post seem reasonable.

We recently had our son evaluated with her too and my son loved her and felt very comfortable with her. Her communication with us was thorough, she is sweet and personable. As far as the question as to whether the diagnosis was accurate or not, I would say yes. I can't be sure as to level of accuracy, but I think theres a lot of grey area with this kind of testing, especially when dealing with young children. We got a list of 10 practices from our school we could call; I called all of them. She gave us the earliest appointment and cost the least, although the time was more a determining factor for us. If you feel you might questions the diagnosis, the only suggestion I can give would be to go with a team as opposed to an individual...ie, a large practice where more that one person will asses your child. This is a huge step in the future for your child so you want to make sure you're comfortable with the results. Good luck.

We used her and we like her. Unless your child has a visible and clearly devastating disability, MCPS is however very tough and if you need to fight with the Public school i would suggest someone else. Her practice is not really set up to FIGHT with MCPS. Her practice is more focused on family and child interventions. I think she is frankly as flummoxed with MCPS as many parents here, but her focus is not school reform or battling bureaucrats.

There are other practices where the doctor will attend the IEP meetings and basically mop the floor with the MCPS psychologist. I think if you want an IEP in MCPS (particularly for high IQ but with ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia or other dys.. diagnosis) you need your own psychologist (who relishes winning a BATTLE with MCPS) & possibly an advocate (with a winning track record) to come to all meetings with you - logistically challenging and expensive. There is another chain going on now about how MCPS is not following the law and perfectly epitomizes all the "what not to do" in a recent DOJ "dear colleague" letter articulating what not to do with respect to ADHD.

our child is doing well academically, so getting anything more than a 504 from MCPS is a huge challenge. We elect to put our money into individual therapy, tutoring, and other beneficial activities. If our child was more severely impacted, 20/20 hindsight being everything, I would have gone to a practice that is more geared to go into battle for you and I would have changed my whole dynamic to get ready for battle instead of thinking the school would take resnik's report and actually follow the law. We got completely bamboozled by them first go round. they could not understand how a smart kid could have dyslexia and ADHD. Like it was impossible to provide an intervention even if they are doing well academically (completely forgetting that based on IQ they should be doing better and felt terrible about themselves). Could not even get a 504. It took an advocate and change of school to get a 504.

I did not care for her not another psychologist mentioned her previously. A waste of $3,000. Go to Kennedy Kreiger. Much cheaper.
