Queen Latifah doesn't need to act. Every time I see her in anything, I think, "Queeeeeen!" and she makes me happy to see her. That's enough for me.

I was just going to say that! I loved her in Colonia. She made it a great movie.

I've only seen her in Harry Potter and thought she played Hermione perfectly. I actually can't wait to see her in Beauty and the Beast!!

Honestly I don't think ANYONE is putting her on a feminism pedestal. In fact I've only seen press writing that she takes herself too seriously. So maybe she has constructed this pedestal herself?

Seriously? I don't know if she's a great actress, I don't know anything about her, really, but I have no personal investment in her talent or success or lack thereof.

Why do we want so badly to see others fail? Or why do we take so much pleasure from criticism?

Lighten up pp, not one poster said they have ill-wishes for this girl, they said she can't act. If you'd seen her work and disagreed you could engage in a healthy debate and actually add something to this thread.

I'm a PP (see: Watson kicked off La La Land). I love that you used 'burgled' instead of the awful, made-up Americanism 'burglarized.' I didn't see the movie you reference but maybe I will, now.

Well I am a Brit so I tend to use correct grammar.

I think she did the HP movies for so long and got so used to that style that she just doesn't really know how to act.

There is a lot of truth in this. She WAS a stage school kid, and the stage school actors are often very affected and stiff. Not many of them graduate beyond BBC TV into film. Although an exception is Michelle Dockerty she was also a stage school kid.

I liked her in the perks of being a wallflower. She's been in some real dogs on movies ... that Noah thing? yikes.

I agree about Natalie Portman...I also thought I was the only one!
