Lice don't jump, they are not like fleas. They climb.

Have your DD premptively lice comb herself in the bath at least once a week. You catch any "Typhoid Mary" louse before it has a chance to colonize your kid.

It's easy to do this. Wet hair with conditioner, snarl free. My kid does it to herself when I tell her too.

Heat kills eggs. So after you've combed, and as a future preventative, have your daughter blow dry her hair after every wash.

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES the scent of tea tree oil?? I get excited when I have to add it to their new bottle of shampoo! Haha

We've had good results with the green Listerine. You apply it very carefully, leave it on for two hours, and rinse it out. You'll see dead and very sluggish lice fall out of the hair as you rinse. Your head retains the scent of menthol and eucalyptus, which seems to repel lice. You do also have to nitpick carefully and frequently. We also apply Cetaphil cleanser and let it dry overnight on the hair as a way to suffocate nits we miss. And you always miss some.

Listerine on the scalp can be VERY toxic. Do not do that.

Ponytail every day.

Hairspray.

Buy something very smelly, can be any scent, to spray on the hair. Lice do not like any scent. Can be strawberry, tea tree, whatever. You can try essential oil mixed with water in a bottle, but I would see if amazon sells any kind of strawberry or apple or whatever scented hair stuff.
