Where is this? Why would some schools have so many sub requests when other schools aren't even aware of it?

I'm a teacher and have not heard of anyone doing this. I hadn't heard about this day at all before reading DCUM. I can't imagine any teacher I know taking a day off to prove a point. Any considering doing so should look for a new profession.

I emailed my children's teachers at a local public school to tell them I supported them taking the day off. They said something I could do to support them would be to email the principal and superintendent. I wrote a long email listing all of the women at school who've helped my kids and family. I'm glad my kids can start to think above the value of women's work.

If I were working in FCPS, I'd consider taking the day off. This administration wants to close public schools. Why not protest for both education and women in one day? Some school systems in the country are completely closing because of it.

That is my fear as well. I always seem to be targeted when there is a sub shortage in my school. Seems like there should be a contingency plan so that the same teachers are not used all of the time.
