3 a month

cable - could pay it online but the office is on my way to the store.
electric - company is online but they contract through a 3rd party and I'm not paying the $4 charge for that.
water - online now but until I call and confirm I just drop a check off.

I only have paper checks for my "don't touch" money, so it's for larger amounts only. Everything else is via online, which I see is sometimes delivered electronically and other times listed as sent by check, depending on the recipient.

I write checks occasionally- Kids activities, gifts to my adult kids, lawn guy, church, just to name a few. They are free through USAA. No reason not to keep them around.

Yes, I write checks all the time. Usually it's for: daycare, housecleaner, rent, birthdays/weddings, a random bill here and there.

I hadn't used checks for years and was convinced it was a dying practice .... then I bought a house and all my financial transactions were straight out of the 1950's.

I've moved a lot in the last few years and order a stack of 20 checks for $5 each time I move to a different state. I've used 4 in the past year.

I write one a month or so.

My ex doesn't use them. When he needs to pay something by check he has his bank issue one. It takes about a week to get to the recipient.

For $15 through my bank, I can get like, 500 of them. And I don't have to travel to the bank to get them each time I need them. I order them online.

Yes, I still have and use checks. I pay as much online as I can, but not everyone takes online payment or credit cards. I write them for our in-home daycare provider weekly and then for things like PTA/field trips and the like.

Yes. I pay my utilities with checks. I just like writing out a piece of paper and it helps me remember to pay them on time. I have a card that I pay online and I often forget about it! I use it to pay for things like local race registrations (I'm a runner) or to pay for fundraising events I attend. Things like that.

I use about 6-8 checks a year and all of these are for purposes important to us, but for businesses, organizations or people that would be very inconvenient to pay by cash or CC. It's not often, but it's worth it to keep the checks. Like another PP said, I order about 500 at a time and just use them as needed. I last bought checks like 8 years ago and still have half left. And I've probably written about 50-60 checks in that time. I paid something like $8 for the box. $1 per check at the bank is just silly.

I am 27 and do not have kids yet.

I have had the same set of checks since 2008 and can't remember the last one I needed one. I had to get a certified check to purchase my car earlier this year, but I just went to the bank to get one.

I do have a small part time job that pays by check, but they are about to switch to direct deposit. My main job is direct deposit.
